Resident parking discounts

Residents can get up to 30 minutes free parking or discounted parking sessions for Band A vehicles. To qualify you must either have a:

Richmond Card

If you live in the Borough and hold a Richmond Card, you can get 30 minutes free parking in our:

  • Pay and Display parking bays
  • Council-owned car parks

You can only park for a single session for a period of up to 30 minutes. If you wish to park for longer you must pay for the total duration of your stay.

You can take advantage of free 30 minute parking sessions throughout the day, but they must start at least one hour apart. Parking machines will not accept a free booking unless one hour has elapsed since your last free session. You can however, still pay for your parking during this time.

RingGo cashless parking account

If you live in the Borough and have a RingGo cashless parking account, you can get 30 minutes free parking in our Pay and Display parking bays. Find out how to get a resident discount.

Pay As You Go accounts

If you have either a Visitor or Trader Pay As You Go account, you will have been automatically registered for a RingGo cashless parking account. You can get 30 minutes free parking in our Pay and Display parking bays right away and you do not need to provide additional proofs.

You can only park for a single session for a period of up to 30 minutes. If you wish to park for longer you must pay for the total duration of your stay.

The RingGo booking system will not accept a free booking unless one hour has elapsed since your last free session. You can however, still pay for your parking during this time.

How to use RingGo cashless parking

Car Tax Band A vehicles (low emissions)

A 50 per cent discount applies on parking charges or parking permits* if you have a Car Tax Band A vehicle and:

*This does not apply to visitor or trader parking permits.

You must still observe the 'maximum stay period', which may be in force at any car park or on-street parking bay.

Richmond Card

You will have been asked for proof to show your vehicle is eligible, when you registered for your Richmond Card. When you use the Card your discount parking should be applied automatically.

Proofs

If you have either a Visitor or Trader Pay As You Go account, you will have been automatically registered for a RingGo cashless parking account. You will need to login to your RingGo cashless parking account and upload proof to show your vehicle is eligible.

Accepted proofs include:

  • Vehicle Registration Document;
  • DVLA website print out; or
  • vehicle manufacturer's handbook.

Once you have supplied proof, your application should be processed within two working days. If successful, your discounted parking provision will be applied to your RingGo cashless parking account automatically.
