Join Whitton Adult Community Singers

Whitton Adult Community Singers are looking for new members. They are a friendly, supportive and inclusive choir. Everyone is welcome!

Come along on Saturdays from 11.15am-12.15pm at Whitton Community Centre. The new term starts on 7 April.

Walk with YMCA

YMCA in Hampton hold fortnightly walks starting from the White House and walking to a variety of locations. 

The next walk, about 4 miles long, will take place on 12 April walking through Richmond Park and strolling around the Isabella Plantation. Walks start promptly at 10am.

Sign up for Easter holiday swimming lessons

Sign your children up for swimming lessons at Teddington Pool and Fitness Centre this Easter break.

Lessons will take place from Tuesday 3 to Friday 6 April and from Monday 9 to Friday 13 April between 8.30 and 10.30am, depending on age group and ability.

February Half Term at Orleans House Gallery

Get creative this February half term with a selection of exciting artistic workshops happening at Orleans House Gallery. Become inspired by the Gallery and its surroundings, and experiment with print, collage, plaster and more while working with experienced artists!

Garden waste contracts

The new garden waste contracts for 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019 have now started.

If you have renewed your contract and have not received your new yellow sticker within five working days, please submit a replacement sticker request. Please be aware that the waste crew will not empty bins with an orange sticker.

If you have not renewed your contract, you can renew online.

Christmas Day Dinner Richmond need your help

The volunteers behind the Christmas Day Dinner in Richmond are kindly asking for gift donations to fill 50 stockings for young adults aged 18 to 25 from across the borough who have recently left the care system.

Presents for the guests can be dropped off at Positive, Willoughby House, 439 Richmond Road, TW1 2AG on Friday 14 December between 9.30am and 5pm

Road closures in Kingston

Diversions and road closures around Kingston town centre and on Kingston Bridge will be in place overnight from 8pm on Saturday 23 March to 12 noon on Sunday 24 March.

Teddington and Hampton:

  • Kingston Bridge will be closed from west to east, and road users are advised to travel into Kingston along Portsmouth Road.

Richmond and Richmond Road:

  • Traffic will be unable to return via Kingsgate Road, but will be diverted across Kingston Bridge towards Hampton and Teddington.

Mayor visits Teddington Nursery

Buttercups Nursery in Teddington received a special visit this week from the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Councillor Lisa Blakemore.

The Mayor sat with the nursery children for half an hour and told them all about her role and responsibilities. She brought along her trusty helper Millicent the Mayor bear and an information leaflet about being a Mayor written by her grandchildren.

 

Cracking Easter Hunt raises £560 for Mayor’s Charities

More than a hundred children joined the Mayor in the York House gardens last weekend for a very special Easter Egg hunt.

The event helped raised over £560 for the Mayor’s charities, Off the Record Twickenham, Me, Too and Co and Cavernoma Alliance UK.

The clinics, run by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH), offer a confidential, non-judgmental service which is open to everyone. No attitude – just friendly, professional staff with state-of-the-art diagnostics.

Easter recycling and waste collection days one day later

Following the Easter Bank Holidays on Friday 30 March and Monday 2 Apri, waste and recycling collections (including garden waste collections) for domestic properties will take place one day later than usual.

Normal domestic collection schedules will resume a week later on Monday 9 April.

Residents are asked to put recycling or refuse out early on collection day, but not to leave it on the streets the day before to avoid bags being ripped and to keep roads clean and tidy.

Gritters assemble!

The Council's gritters are on the frontline battling the latest cold snap with 4 main routes being gritted a total of 6 occasions since Tuesday. In that time, they've spread 180 tonnes of salt covering 780 miles.

And they will be out again tonight from 8pm through to tomorrow morning gritting primary and secondary routes. Primary footways will also be gritted from 6.30am if there is snow accumulation on them.

Christmas events road closures

There are a number of Christmas events taking place across the borough this weekend which will cause road closures.

Whitton High Street Christmas lights switch on will take place on Sunday 25 November. Whitton High Street will be closed from 9am to 7pm. 

Twickenham Christmas lights switch on will take place on Sunday 25 November. Water Lane and Church Street will be closed from 9am to 7pm.

Residents across the borough are encouraged to take part in Transport for London’s consultation on its proposed changes to bus routes 110, 419, H37, 493 and H22.

Nine projects were shortlisted from a total of 28 projects and have the opportunity to receive a share of the £1 million Community Fund which comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy.
