GoodGym clean up Ham Meadow

GoodGym Richmond and a team of 11 runners braved the warm weather and ran 9km last night.

The run finished at Ham Meadows, where the team removed ragwort that had been growing in the area.

New approach to pavement repairs in the borough

Earlier this year, residents nominated local pavements for repair as part of our Community Pavement Fund, which previously allocated set funds for each village based on the number of nominations submitted.

For the first time, each of the 18 wards in the borough will benefit from the scheme. Residents are now encouraged to raise damaged pavements with their councillors. Community representatives will work with us to deliver repairs to the areas that are most in need of work.

Bridge and road closures for RideLondon

This Sunday will see bridge and road closures throughout London including Richmond Park, Hampton Court Road, parts of the A316 and the Upper Richmond Road for the RideLondon cycling event.

All of these roads form part of the outbound route for the cyclists taking part in the events, which start in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and runs through London, Richmond upon Thames and Surrey before returning to the capital to finish along The Mall.

Emergency water works in Hampton Hill High Street

Hampton Hill High Street near the junction of Holly Road has been closed to through traffic due to emergency works, following a water leak over the weekend.

It is anticipated that the road will be re-opened later on today (Monday 23 July).

A local diversion is in place.


Library teams recognised for delivery of Cityread programme

The Libraries team have been recognised at the first annual Cityread awards for their delivery of the borough's Cityread 2018 programme during May.

The team were honoured for delivering a fantastic programme for the Cityread festival, with 11 events taking place throughout the borough.

Members of the team were also honoured as stars of Cityread for their efforts in organising, running and promoting the borough’s events programme.

Major filming: Richmond town centre

A large scale film shoot will be taking place in Richmond town centre for six days (31 March, 1 to 4 April and 7 April). Throughout this time, filming will be based in a number of locations, including; Richmond Riverside, Richmond Green area and Whittaker Avenue.

Richmond will be fully open for business during the filming, however residents are encouraged to look at the following web pages to make sure that they are aware of the road closures and parking restrictions.

The Landmark Arts Centre has a vacancy for a full time Administrator. Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 8 March and the successful applicant will start in April.

Garden waste contracts

The new garden waste contracts for 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019 have now started.

If you have renewed your contract and have not received your new yellow sticker within five working days, please submit a replacement sticker request. Please be aware that the waste crew will not empty bins with an orange sticker.

Contribute to Civic Centre poppy display

VisitRichmond and the British Legion are once again partnering up to mark 100 years since the end of World War I with a special 'thank you' campaign.

If you’re visiting the Civic Centre this week you can pop your very own poppy in our floral display for a pound coin donation, and help spell out the word ‘Richmond’.

Whilst you’re there, find out all the big and little ways you can say thank you to the First World War generation by picking up a brochure from the stand.

Major gas works on Richmond Road

UPDATE 3/5/2019

The directional closure on Richmond Road and accompanying parking restrictions on Crown Road in Twickenham to facilitate major gas works have been temporarily lifted for operational reasons. Bus stops on Richmond Road have also been temporarily lifted.

The restrictions and closures of bus stops will resume on Tuesday 7 May and are expected to remain in place for a further 2 weeks with expected completion by Sunday 19 May. We apologise for the inconvenience to residents and businesses in the area during this time.

Gritters assemble!

The Council's gritters are on the frontline battling the latest cold snap with 4 main routes being gritted a total of 6 occasions since Tuesday. In that time, they've spread 180 tonnes of salt covering 780 miles.

And they will be out again tonight from 8pm through to tomorrow morning gritting primary and secondary routes. Primary footways will also be gritted from 6.30am if there is snow accumulation on them.

Christmas events road closures

There are a number of Christmas events taking place across the borough this weekend which will cause road closures.

Whitton High Street Christmas lights switch on will take place on Sunday 25 November. Whitton High Street will be closed from 9am to 7pm. 

Twickenham Christmas lights switch on will take place on Sunday 25 November. Water Lane and Church Street will be closed from 9am to 7pm.
