Apply for a visitor parking permit (Twickenham Event Zone only)

Before you start

This information is for new applications only.

Do not complete this form if you wish to:

Permits are free of charge for residents who live in Controlled Parking Zone (R). A permit is only required on specific event days as signposted on the zone entry signs. A list of these days can be found on our Twickenham event timetable.

Permits are limited to a maximum of two per household (except when renewing permits immediately before expiry of an existing permit) and are valid for 12 months.

Should your application be refused we will contact you to let you know why.

Visitors permits are issued to provide residents with a parking facility for their genuine visitors which otherwise would not exist. Abuse of this provision may lead to the withdrawal of any permits issued and the loss of the facility to obtain further permits.

Check your eligibility

Your property must be within Controlled Parking Zone (R)(pdf, 350KB).

Your property must be your 'usual place of abode', (for example, you must normally spend at least four days each week living and sleeping at the premises). Having an office, shop or hotel in the zone does not entitle you to resident visitor parking.

Your property must be eligible for a permit under the Town and Country Planning Act.

What you will need

Before you begin your application you will need to ensure:

  • you are eligible and have read the legal guidance; and
  • you have proof of address.

Accepted proofs of address

If you have a Richmond Account, you can link your Council Tax account and use this to prove your address. You will need to know your Council Tax account number to do this, which can be found at the top of your Council Tax bill.

You can also upload a scanned or digital copy of one of the following:

  • Current Council Tax bill
  • Current driving licence
  • Legal letter of completion (valid 3 months from move in)
  • Tenancy agreement (valid 3 months from move in)
  • Utility bill (dated within 3 months)

Sending proofs by post

If you do not have access to a scanner or a digital camera, you can still apply online but you will need to post a copy of your proofs to: Parking Permits, PO Box 466, Twickenham TW1 9JT.

You must clearly mark all items with your online application reference number, which you will receive once you submit your online application (for example FSXXXXXX).

Only send in copies of proofs as these will not be returned, they will be securely destroyed.

Submit your application

The easiest way to apply is online. Once you complete your application you will be sent a reference number (which begins with FS). Please keep this safe for any future correspondence related to your application.

If you are unable to complete an online application you can also apply by post or in person. You will need to download and complete an application form (pdf, 100 KB) and return to: Parking Permits, PO Box 466, Twickenham TW1 9JT.

What happens next

If your application is successful, you should receive your permit/s by post within 10 working days. If you have not received your permit/s after this time, you can contact us on 020 8891 1411 during office hours, or email parkingpermits@richmond.gov.uk.

When you get your new permit/s

When you receive the new permit/s you will need to ensure that it is correctly displayed in your visitors vehicle. Failure to do so could result in the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). Read our guide to find out how to use your Twickenham event zone visitors permit.
