Richmond Mental Health Mates

Richmond Mental Health Mates are monthly peer support groups offering a safe place to talk, walk, laugh, share stories and make new connections without fear of judgement.

The next walk in Richmond will be taking place on Saturday 30 November at 11am, meeting at the Tide Tables Cafe - look out for the blue balloons.

Christmas in Hampton Square

The Mayor of Richmond upon Thames will light up Hampton Square on Friday 6 December by switching on its Christmas lights.

The annual Christmas in the Square event will take place between 3.30 and 5.30pm with mulled wine, music from local artists and craft activities for the kids.

Repair works starting on Hammersmith Bridge

Preliminary repair works on Hammersmith Bridge will commence in the next few weeks, Hammersmith and Fulham Council and Transport for London have confirmed.

Whilst the full restoration project is still in the planning phase, the Bridge’s decorative cast iron housings need to be partially dismantled to provide access for thorough investigation of the bridge’s structure and for surface preparation.

Set-up for this dismantling and preparation phase will start on Monday 25 November 2019, with works scheduled to start in the next few weeks and run until June 2020.

Join the Mayor of Richmond and patients from Hampton Wick Surgery at Bushy Park parkrun on Saturday 23 November at 9am.

Parkrun organise 5km runs every Saturday morning in green spaces around the world. They are open to everyone, free and easy to take part in.

A new reading group is coming to the Information and Reference Library in Richmond this Wednesday 20 November from 2.30 to 4pm

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while you listen to or read a selection of non-fiction material. The session is free and open to all.

Home-Start Carol Service

Tickets are now on sale to the Home-Start fundraising Carol Service at St Mary's Church in Barnes on Wednesday 4 December 2019.

The evening will feature an exclusive performance by the choir from St Osmund’s Primary School as well as musical contributions from Barnes residents. Tickets are £20 each and include festive refreshments. All money raised will go towards supporting local children and families experiencing difficulties in the London Boroughs of Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow.

Veterans are helping raise money for charity, Royal Star & Garter by designing Christmas cards.

Royal Star & Garter provides loving, compassionate care for veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia. You can view the Christmas card collection online, and all profits from the sale of the cards will be donated to the charity.

Sheen Gate Choir is celebrating 10 years of singing with a concert on Saturday 30 November in Christ Church, West Temple Sheen at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm).

Winners announced for the Mayor’s and Council Leader’s Christmas card

Six budding young artists have been selected from over 400 entries this festive season to design the Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Nancy Baldwin and Leader of the Council, Cllr Gareth Roberts annual Christmas cards.

The cards will be sent to many organisations, businesses and charities that the Council and Mayor have worked with throughout the year.

Christmas Day Dinner in Richmond are kindly asking for gift donations to fill stockings for young adults from across the borough who have recently left the care system.

Presents for the guests can be dropped off at Positive, Willoughby House, 439 Richmond Road, TW1 2AG. Alternatively check their Amazon wishlist or shop directly on TwickTraders website and let their Christmas elves do all the hard work for you!

You can also drop off your unwanted, or half-used rolls of wrapping paper as well as bows, and ribbon to the Eel Pie Pub on Church Street in Twickenham for wrapping gifts.

There are plenty of ways you can get involved and make this Christmas a special one to remember.

Donate sanitary products to the Richmond Box Project

The Richmond Box Project is a local not for profit partnership that provides free sanitary products to young women in the Richmond upon Thames area.

The group are hoping to supply free sanitary products into a local college, youth groups and care leavers event.

You can also drop off sanitary products to the red box at the Civic Centre in Twickenham or visit their Richmond Box Project wishlist on Amazon.

Donate your unwanted winter coats

Chestertons are collecting unwanted winter coats and parkas for both adults and children as part of the Calling London Winter Coat Collection 2019.

The charity are then distributing the coats to the homeless and families that are struggling financially. Drop off your coats to your local branch.

1657: Rebel Christmas includes an immersive gallery experience and exciting events programme suitable for all ages.

Royal Oak is emblem for Year of the Tree

The iconic, ancient Royal Oak tree in Richmond Park is the subject of a stunning new artwork by acclaimed artist Mark Frith, commissioned by the Friends of Richmond Park (FRP) as emblem for their conservation campaign, Year of the Tree.

Limited edition prints of the artwork are available, with net proceeds going towards funding tree conservation projects in Richmond Park.
