Easter holiday waste and recycling collections

26 March 2026

There will be no changes to the schedule of waste and recycling collections over the Easter bank holiday.

We will continue to collect residential waste on your usual collection day. You can also find out your collection day by downloading the free My Richmond app

Townmead Road Reuse and Recycling Centre will be open from 9am on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The last available slot to book is 3 to 3.30pm.

Remember to book a slot before you visit.

Recycle more items

As part of the new ‘Simpler Recycling’ rules, you can now recycle even more items in your mixed recycling:

  • Empty squeezy metal tubes (for example tomato paste or purée tubes)
  • Empty squeezy plastic tubes (for example toothpaste tubes)

The new items are in addition to the items you can already recycle in your black box/bin, including:

  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Food tins and drink cans
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Aluminium foil and trays (flattened, clean and free from food)

By making sure items are clean, empty and placed in the correct container, you’re helping recycling to be processed efficiently.

Recycling, reuse and DIY over the Easter holiday

Find out how to responsibly recycle your Easter celebration waste, like cardboard and foil off Easter eggs, in our A-Z recycle guide

Recycle any dyed Easter eggs and other food scraps from your celebrations through our food waste recycling service

Planning your spring clean over the bank holiday weekend? Recycle unwanted small electrical items at one of our 20 community banks, 10 local libraries or through your weekly kerbside collections.

You can also now drop off certain items in good condition at the Townmead Road drop-off area. Donated items will be redistributed back into the community by local groups.

If you are going to be using the Easter break for household or garden DIY, instead of buying new you can rent over 30 useful items, including pressure washers, carpet cleaners, drills and hedge trimmers at our Library of Things in Twickenham. First-time users can get 15% off your first rental with code TKLOT15.
