Hear about the air we share this Clean Air Day

11 June 2025

Thursday 19 June is Clean Air Day and residents are invited to stop by our free pop-up stalls to learn about air quality across the borough. Don’t miss our free art workshops, where you can contribute to a collective tree-inspired artwork.

We’re especially proud to mark this year’s Clean Air Day with national recognition of our efforts to improve local air quality. In April 2025, we received the 'Air Quality Strategy of the Year', celebrating our innovative and community-driven approach and highlighting our ongoing commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment.

Sharing the same objective, Clean Air Day brings together communities, businesses, schools, and the health sector to improve public understanding of air pollution and its impact on health, and encourage individuals and organisations to adopt cleaner, more sustainable practices.

Visit our stalls

This year’s theme is ‘Air pollution affects your health from before your first breath until your last’. Air pollution affects each of us but there are lots of things we can do to improve our air quality. Do you want to know more about air pollution in your area?

Stop by our free pop-ups in the borough:

  • Sunday 15 June, from 11am to 5pm at Richmond Cargo Bike Fair, the Old Deer Park
  • Thursday 19 June, from 11am to 4pm at Clean Air Day stall on George Street, Richmond (between the flower stall and Pret)

Free tree-inspired workshops

Join us for free, artist-led workshops exploring creative techniques that celebrate the importance of trees as the lungs of Richmond.

Participants will engage in exercises such as botanical monoprinting, watercolour explorations, and bark rubbing, crafting images inspired by dialogue and diverse materials. Each technique will be explained and demonstrated, allowing participants to test each, and understand its use to create their own interpretation of a tree.

The individual impressions created will come together in a collective artwork, to be displayed as a public installation, a shared tree-landscape shaped by many hands and perceptions.
