Our collection crew will put a tag on your garden waste bin if there's an issue. There are two types of tag:

  • A yellow tag - crew could not collect your waste
  • A blue tag - crew collected your waste but you need to take action

Crew will explain on the tag what the issue is.

Yellow tag

There are two reasons why crew will put a yellow tag on your bin.

Your bin's too heavy

Collection vehicles can't lift your bin if it's too heavy.

You should remove some of the contents of your bin so it is lighter - this will allow crew to empty it next time.

Your bin's contaminated

You must not contaminate your garden waste by putting things in it that we cannot collect. If you do, we may remove your service without a refund.

Check that you have read the list of garden recycling items we can and can't accept.

You should remove the contamination from your bin, so crew can collect it next time.

Blue tag

There are two reasons why crew will put a blue tag on your bin.

You're not registered

You need an active garden waste recycling subscription to use our collection service.

If your subscription has expired, you can renew your subscription online.

If you don't renew your subscription, we'll stop collecting your garden waste.

Your bin has no house name or number

Collection crews use in-cab technology to identify addresses with an active garden waste contract.

To help make this system work, it’s important that you:

  • Write your house name or number on the side of your bin, so it’s clearly visible
  • Do not write it on your bin lid

Do this as soon as possible, so crew can continue to empty your bin.
