Who qualifies for a resident fee?

  • The deceased must have been a permanent resident of the London Borough of Richmond at the date of death.
  • The deceased was resident within one year of the date of death and was moved to a residential care home out of the Borough, as there was no place available for residential care in the Borough. This must be confirmed in writing by Social Services.

The same fee applies for both residents and non-residents for the burial of cremated remains, reservation of a grave, and extension of burial rights.

Submitting proof

Residents must submit a current Council Tax bill or current Electoral Roll document with the burial application form in order to qualify for the resident fee.

Payment of fees

Burial fees are usually paid to us by your Funeral Director. Payments made direct to us can be in cash or by credit/debit card in person at the Cemetery Office or by cheque made payable to London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Individuals paying directly must pay in full at least 3 working days before the funeral.
