New Council grant funding for local voluntary organisations

21 September 2023

We have launched two new grant funds to be used towards the cost of living crisis or improvements to community buildings.

The Cost of Living Grant Fund aims to support Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations in their work to help residents through the cost of living crisis. The fund can be used to boost the current offerings of community spaces and food provision in the borough, as well as supporting other VCS led projects, with a cost of living focus.

The current round of funding closes on Friday 29 September 2023, with a second round closing on Monday 26 February 2024. Last winter there were 50 Warm Spaces operating across the borough as safe, friendly spaces for residents to engage with others and in some cases share a drink or even a meal. This year we are looking to fund more of these types of spaces to join our existing Community Spaces directory

The Community Fund is generated from the Community Infrastructure Levy, which is charged on new developments in the borough. The fund aims to ease the demand that development places on local areas, by supporting neighbour projects. The deadline for applications us on Monday 11 December 2023.

We have funded many exciting projects for the community in previous years such as the amazing Community Kitchen running from the ETNA centre in east Twickenham to supporting the Sheddington project in Teddington providing a well-resourced workshop for making and mending, as well as an opportunity to bring people together to make new friends and connections.
