Pantosaurus brings PANTS conversations to Richmond classrooms

16 October 2025

On Thursday 16 October, Kew Riverside School pupils had a visit from big yellow dinosaur Pantosaurus, for children's charity National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children’s (NSPCC) engaging Talk PANTS session.

This October, we partnered with NSPCC  to roll out the Talk PANTS campaign across the borough.

Shannon Katiyo, the Council’s Director of Public Health, said:

“The Talk PANTS campaign is an easy and engaging way for our young people to understand their rights over their own bodies and stay safe. It also supports parents to help their children build self-awareness and set personal boundaries, laying the groundwork for healthy relationships and preventing abuse”.

Developed with children, parents, carers and teachers, Talk PANTS promotes having conversations with young children about safety around their own bodies. With the help of Pantosaurus, children learn that their body belongs to them, and they should tell a safe adult they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.

Throughout the year, Pantosaurus has been out and about visiting nurseries, family hubs, libraries and primary schools to enable children and young people aged 3 to 11 to learn the PANTS rule:

  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help

The campaign is delivered locally as part of the Council’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Partnership Strategy 2025–2030 to raise awareness of child sexual abuse. If you are worried that a child or young person is at risk of being abused or neglected, you should report your concern.

Extend Talk PANTS at home

Parents and carers can continue the conversations from the Talk PANTS campaign at home with NSPCC resources. These materials help you have a simple but important conversation with your child to help keep them safe from sexual abuse. Find out more about PANTS guides and resources.
