Sexual and Reproductive Health Partnership Strategy 2025-30

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Partnership Strategy outlines the actions to be taken by the local authority, NHS, and community and voluntary sector that will improve the sexual and reproductive health of the people of Richmond Upon Thames over the next five years.

Sexual and reproductive health is an important public health issue with health, social and economic impacts that can affect the population across the life course. Equitable access to sexual and reproductive health services is essential to improve the health and well-being of individuals and populations.

Our approach

Informed by the global, national, regional and local context, this ambitious strategy adopts the World Health Organisation framework for operationalising action to promote sexual and reproductive health. In doing so, it takes a life course approach and identifies local action for each of the eight intervention areas:

  • Antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
  • Comprehensive education and information
  • Contraception counselling and provision
  • Gender-based violence prevention, support and care
  • Fertility and reproductive care
  • Prevention and control of HIV and other STIs
  • Safe abortion care
  • Sexual function and psychosexual counselling

Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy

Wandsworth and Richmond Youth Councils have worked together to produce a joint Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy.

The youth councils collectively identified key information they felt young people should know, priority delivery areas for the strategy and how they will hold organisations to account for delivering on their promises.

The youth councils also included steps young people can take to encourage their friends to seek information and help and support in a sensitive and non-judgmental way.

Poster

The youth councils have also created a downloadable poster for display in youth and school settings. It advertises the strategies and directs young people to Getting it on for further information and support on a range of health matters, including sexual and reproductive health.

Please feel free to download and display so young people can join the conversation.
