Richmond’s flagship Full of Life Fair brings together over 1,000 older residents for connection and wellbeing

24 October 2025

More than 1,000 residents, carers and community partners came together today at Allianz Stadium for Richmond Council’s flagship Full of Life Fair – the borough’s largest celebration of older residents and healthy ageing.

Councillor Piers Allen, Chair of the Adult Social Services, Health and Housing Services Committee and Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board, said:

“The Full of Life Fair is one of the most joyful and important events in our borough’s calendar. It’s about celebrating later life and ensuring every adult has access to the information, support and social connections they need to live long, healthy and happy lives.”

Across England, more than 2 million people aged over 75 live alone, and over a million go a month without speaking to friends or family, affecting their mental and physical health, according to Age UK.

“The Full of Life Fair connects older residents and promotes wellbeing, bringing people together and showing that support is always within reach,” added Councillor Allen.

Now in its 17th year and an annual highlight in the borough’s calendar, the Fair was organised by the Council’s Adult Social Care and Public Health team, in collaboration with local NHS services, charities and community groups – all working together to help residents stay healthy, active and connected.

Councillor Allen expressed his appreciation to those who helped make the event possible.

“A heartfelt thanks to all the voluntary sector and health partners, as well as Council teams, who support this event and continue to support our residents across the borough and made this year’s Fair such a success,” said Councillor Allen.

The Fair featured more than 70 stallholders offering free health checks, technology and scam-prevention advice, exercise and dance sessions, and guidance on social care and wellbeing support.

Councillor Nancy Baldwin, the Council’s Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities and the Voluntary Sector, said:

“The Full of Life Fair is about far more than just information – it’s about connection. Every conversation, every smile, and every new link formed here today helps strengthen the fabric of our community.

“We see the very best of Richmond, local government, and the health and voluntary sectors coming together under one roof to deliver real outcomes for our residents. This year was no exception – a welcoming, inclusive and genuinely impactful day.”
