Get outside, move more, and make new connections with our regular health walks

3 March 2026

Start spring enjoying the fresh air outside on our regular volunteer-led health walks for people of all abilities. Our walks are friendly, welcoming and empowering, they are a great opportunity to explore the outdoors, discover new places and meet new people.

The walks are free, organised group walks for people of all ages who want to get more active.

It's easy to start walking, as these gentle walks take place in groups and provide a safe and social atmosphere. Each walk lasts between 45 and 70 minutes and will be led by a trained volunteer leader, and you will be encouraged to go at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Shorter and slower walks are available for beginners and those with limiting health conditions.

Some walks also stop for coffee afterwards in a nearby café, which provides a great opportunity to socialise and relax after the walk!

Volunteer as a walk leader

As a volunteer walk leader you would be helping people in your community to get active and healthy, providing vital support that they otherwise might not get.

As well as ensuring walks are friendly, safe and well run, walk leaders are also ambassadors for walking and the health walks - showing people that walking can make a big difference to their lives.

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer walk leader, please contact trees&parks@richmond.gov.uk.
