Record investment programme drives next phase of Petersham Road upgrades

19 June 2026

Improvement works continue on Petersham Road next month, as part of our ambitious £21 million investment programme to upgrade roads and pavements across the borough.

From Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 July, overnight resurfacing works will take place on Petersham Road between Meadow Close and Sandy Lane. The works involve removing the existing surface and laying a new, high-quality carriageway. To minimise disruption, the works will be conducted between 8pm and 5am each night, with a full road closure and signed diversions in place. The road will be open as usual outside working hours.

Due to the nature of the works, vehicular access will be restricted during working hours. Emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works.

Temporary parking restrictions will be clearly marked with high-visibility cones, and any vehicles left in coned areas may be subject to removal and fines.

These works are the second phase of improvement works on Petersham Road. Last year, we resurfaced the section between Star and Garter Hill and Meadow Close.

This is part of our wider commitment to keeping the borough moving through record levels of investment in local infrastructure. The £21 million programme is delivering safer, smoother and more sustainable streets for all who live, work and travel in the borough.

We will make every effort to complete the work as planned and keep inconvenience to an absolute minimum.
