Explore free, locally recognised digital learning at your library

7 January 2026

We are delighted to share that our AI information session has been named runner up in the Get Online Week 'Share Your Story' competition, organised by the Good Things Foundation.

Placed in the 'AI and Emerging Tech' category, our free sessions expanded the usual presentation to include a hands on practical element. We encouraged residents to explore how AI already features in everyday digital life. Our library team was on hand throughout to answer questions and guide participants.

If you want to learn more about technology to feel more confident to use it in your daily life, join one of our widely recognised sessions.

IT taster sessions at our libraries

Each month (excluding August and December), our library team visits different locations across the borough to offer one-to-one drop-in support for questions about smartphones or tablets. Find out more about IT taster sessions.

As we mark Health Information Week in January, we will be introducing a new approach from the new year. Through a partnership with the NHS App support team, we will be offering dedicated digital support to help residents navigate the NHS App.

Alongside our drop ins, we also run a monthly themed digital skills session. Previous topics have included information about eLibraries, cloud storage, and shopping online safely.

Upcoming sessions:

  • January: Truth or Myth – Navigating health information in the digital age
  • February: Safer Internet Day – Helping you stay safe online
  • March: An Introduction to AI (practical element included)

Want to be the first to hear about new sessions, events, and services? Sign up to our library mailing list.

Our libraries continue to play a vital role in supporting digital access and confidence. We offer free Wi-Fi in all libraries, public network computers and scanners, one-to-one digital support, regular drop ins at the Information and Reference Library on the first and fourth Saturday, every month. Find out more.
