Cancel your resident parking permit

If you no longer need your resident parking permit, you can cancel it online.

You may also be entitled to a refund if:

• one full month or more is left on the permit before the expiry date; and
• we receive your refund application form within this period.

If your permit has been lost, stolen or damaged email a completed lost/stolen form to us.

Before you start

You may not need to cancel your permit. Check below to see if any of these conditions apply to you:

• If you have moved to an address within another Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), you will need to update your address.
• If you change your vehicle from a Band A vehicle to another Band A vehicle you will need to update your vehicle details.
• If you change your vehicle from a Band A vehicle to a non-Band A vehicle you will need to:
  • cancel your current permit and get a refund; and
  • apply for a new permit.

What you will need

In order to cancel your permit online, you will need to know your:

• Vehicle Registration Number
• Permit number

In order to process a refund, the current permit must have the word 'VOID' written across it and can no longer be used (you may be subject to a PCN if you park in a CPZ).

You can upload a scanned or digital copy of your void permit, when completing our online form. If you do not have access to a scanner or digital camera you can also post your permit to us.

How refunds are calculated

Refunds are calculated as the amount originally paid, divided by the duration in months of the permit, multiplied by the number of full remaining months on the permit. Current refund amounts can be found on parking permit costs.

There is a £10 administration fee for processing refunds. This will be deducted from the total refund amount.

What happens next

Refunds will be issued in the same method of payment that the original payment was made. We will contact you if you no longer have a credit or debit card used to make payment.

Your refund may take up to 7 working days by BACS or credit card, and up to 28 days for a cheque to be processed and authorised.

You should no longer use or display your permit once you have submitted your cancellation request. You may be subject to a PCN if you park in a Controlled Parking Zone without a valid permit.
