Request a street light shield

If the street light on the same side of the road outside your property is shining into your window, we may be able to fit a shield or a shade to the back of the light.

To request a shield please complete this form providing information about why it is required.

Before you start

Requests for shields can only be made 14 days after new street lighting has been installed.

This is to allow time to acclimatise to the change of colour from the replacement street lights, and for the correct dimming regime to be set.

When first installed the lights operate at 100% output. This will then be adjusted to the correct output for your road.

Reasons for refusal

Shields are fitted to the back of the light only. We do not provide shields to the front or side of the street light, so we will refuse requests for these.

You will need

To make your request you will need to provide:

• The street name
• The street light number
• Photos of the light intrusion, if you have them
• Your name, address and contact details, if you wish to provide them

What happens next

Your request will be assessed by a member of the street lighting team and replied to within 20 days.
