London Planning
The London Plan sets out the spatial development strategy for the Greater London area. The London Plan is produced by the Mayor of London and includes policies on key issues such as new homes, workplaces, public transport and open spaces.
The London Plan forms part of the development plan for Richmond and is used alongside the Richmond Local Plan to guide decision making on planning applications.
Draft London Plan consultation 2026
The GLA have published a draft London Plan for consultation which opened on Thursday 16 July and will run until Thursday 15 October 2026. The draft London Plan is supported by an evidence base which has informed the proposed policies.
We will be preparing a response to the draft London Plan. More information about this will be provided when it is prepared. Individuals wishing to respond to the consultation are encouraged to do so on the GLA Engagement Portal.
The next London Plan will feature as part of the development plan for the borough and will be important to shaping the emerging Local Plan.
