Sponsor a tree

Sponsor a new tree in a park or a street through the Trees for Streets sponsorship scheme.

Trees play an important role in increasing our resilience to the impacts of climate change, improving air quality and providing wildlife habitats.

Where you can sponsor a tree

You can sponsor a tree:

  • Outside your house
  • Outside a local school
  • In your favourite park

The Trees for Streets website offers residents the ability to select a planting location and check its suitability online.

How to sponsor a tree

To sponsor a tree, submit your request on the Trees for Streets website. You must submit donation payment details, but no payment is taken until your sponsorship is confirmed.

Our trees team will survey the location to see if a new tree is suitable. If your request is approved, an instant impact tree (2 to 3 metres tall) will be planted between November and April.

Applications will be open soon.

Reasons to sponsor a tree

Trees deliver lots of benefits in our communities.

By sponsoring a tree, you will be helping to:

  • Combat climate change and pollution
  • Create shade and help with cooling
  • Improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in your neighbourhood
  • Protect from flooding
  • Create a haven for wildlife
  • Leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy

Deadline

The deadline for sponsorship requests is on 1 December each year. Approved trees are planted by the end of April the following year.

This gives us enough time to survey your location, order the tree and schedule the contractor.

About the scheme

We have partnered with Trees for Streets, the national street tree sponsorship scheme from tree charity, Trees for Cities. The aim of this scheme is to connect communities with trees, nature, the environment and their neighbourhood.
