About the park
Leg o’ Mutton is designated as a Local Nature Reserve, and is managed on behalf of Richmond Council by the Friends of Barnes Common in partnership with the Leg o’ Mutton Advisory Committee.
Cormorant, heron, tufted duck, and even breeding common terns can be seen. Bats roost in the enormous yybrid Poplar trees dating back to the 1850s.
Due to its importance for wildlife, dogs are required to be on leads at all time within the reserve.
