What the project is about

Voices of Richmond upon Thames is a project to collect stories and photos from people who moved to Richmond upon Thames from other countries.

We will keep these stories in the Local Studies Library and Archive.

Why it is important

This project is important because:

• Your story is part of Richmond’s history
• We want to show the many cultures in our community
• We want to help people learn about each other

How you can help

You can:

• Share your story or photo
• Come to a workshop or event

Workshops

These workshops are about the history of Richmond upon Thames. We will look at old photos and papers from the Local Studies Library and Archive. Each workshop has a different theme. You can bring your own photos or stories if you want.

At the workshops you can:

• Meet new people
• Drink tea and coffee
• Learn about different cultures and share your memories
• Share your photos and stories

All workshops are free and no booking is required. You can come to as many as you like.

Friday 12 September

Theme - Home:

• Time: 2pm to 3pm
• Location: Whitton Library
• Price: Free event, booking not required

Thursday 25 September

Theme - Neighbourhood:

• Time: 10.30am to 11.30am
• Location: Whittaker Ellis Suite, Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond, TW9 1TP
• Price: Free event, booking not required

Wednesday 22 October

Theme - Fashion:

• Time: 10.30am to 11.30am
• Location: East Sheen Library
• Price: Free event, booking not required
