Update on Teddington allotments

We are addressing a critical shortage of burial space at Teddington Cemetery. Projections show all remaining burial space will be used by summer 2026.

The land currently used for temporary allotments was always designated for cemetery use.

What's happening

To ensure provision for future generations, we will sensitively reclaim this land and create 734 new burial plots, securing burial space for the next 30 years.

Supporting allotment holders

We understand this is a significant change and are committed to supporting affected plot holders throughout the transition.

Alternative allotment spaces across the borough will be offered wherever possible, and we will work closely with individuals and charities to minimise disruption. Importantly, community growing spaces will return once essential works are complete.

This commitment is reflected in our planning application, and we will invite expressions of interest from current plot holders to return when the site reopens.
