Room for Work charity offers career support for residents

Whether you are looking to re-enter the workplace or seeking a career change, local charity Room for Work provides solid support for jobseekers. This September, the charity will present two free career development courses for Richmond residents.

If you are a mature person struggling to get back into work - or you know you are under-employed and want a better job - this is the programme for you. Course participants learn current job search techniques with an emphasis on networking, developing social media skills, improving CVs, and practising competency-based interviews.The programme is for mature people over 40 with work experience ranging from administrative to managerial and professional roles. You will be with like-minded people in the same situation, using the power of community to build your motivation and confidence in finding a job. The Room for Work format includes tailored, one-to-one mentoring with the course leader. Follow-up support is provided by a personal career coach.To attend, participants will need a laptop or tablet, access to the web, a good working knowledge of English and basic computer skills.The 12-session courses will take place in two locations in Richmond.

Richmond Town Centre event details:

  • Dates: Tuesdays, 19 September to 5 December (12 weeks)
  • Time: 10am to 12.30pm
  • Location: Duke Street Richmond TW9 1DH

Hampton Wick event details:

  • Dates: Mondays and Tuesdays 25 September to 31 October (6 weeks)
  • Time: 10.30am to 1pm
  • Location: The Warehouse, St John’s, Church Grove, Hampton Wick, KT1 4AL
