Poetry winner announced in Templeton Place

19 September 2023

On Saturday 9 September 2023, the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Councillor Suzette Nicholson, joined residents and local businesses in Templeton Place on Hampton Hill High Street to announce the winner of a poetry competition.

The competition was held throughout local schools on the topic of wild flowers. Councillor Nicholson celebrated alongside Dramacube, a local performing arts group for young people, who ran the poetry competition earlier this summer as part of their green pledge which supports environmental projects in the borough.

Dramacube also sponsored one of several planters which now has the winning poem inscribed. Supported by council funding, The Hampton Hill Improvement Group, a local Group of residents, businesses and ward Councillors, collaborated over several years to bring biodiversity, colour and an improved public space to the area.

The Mayor expressed her thanks to all those involved in helping to create a more pleasurable and welcoming space, following which, visitors were treated to a drama performance by young students of Dramacube, and singers from Folk on the Green and Five and Dime.
