Richmond Refugee Week Celebration
Join us for a special evening of community, culture and connection as we celebrate Refugee Week 2025 on Thursday 19 June at York House.
This free, family-friendly event, organised with support from local partners, will feature vibrant cultural performances, food from around the world, and stalls from many local support organisations.

Tending to the Centres
A collaborative art project led by RESOLVE Collective, bringing together local communities, including refugee families and unaccompanied minors, to co-create artworks reflecting their neighbourhoods and lived experiences.
Part of the Arts and Ideas Festival.

Memory of Birds
An immersive sound installation by Tania El Khoury, where participants relax in cocoon-like hammocks to experience poetic storytelling on migration, trauma, and healing.

Refugee Week celebration evening
Organised by Refugees Welcome Richmond.
Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and Afghan snacks to celebrate Refugee Week. Artists Julia Hall, Samira Kitman, and Rita Piglionica from Turner’s House will share work inspired by people seeking sanctuary in the UK.

Afghan Voices: A celebration of Refugee Strength and Community
Organised by the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association.
A full-day celebration providing a vibrant and inclusive space for sanctuary seekers and the wider Richmond community. The event will feature live Afghan music and dance performances, traditional Afghan food, and personal storytelling from members of the Afghan refugee community.

Unity in Motion: Celebrating our Superpower
Organised by Multicultural Richmond.
Enjoy high-energy Zumba, singing, games and food from across the globe.

Kupala Party
Organised by the Ukranian Social Club.
Kupala Party is a vibrant celebration of Ukrainian midsummer traditions, held during Refugee Week and the Summer Solstice. Open to all, the event features live Ukrainian music, a puppet show, artisan market, wreath-making workshops, and food and drink stalls – all in support of Ukrainian refugees in Richmond.

Organised by Richmond Libraries in partnership with Richmond EAL.
A garden celebration with food, music and activities, marking the launch of a new archive preserving stories and photos from residents who’ve moved to the UK.

Ukrainian Mosaic: In Tastes and Colours
Organised by Prosperity for Ukraine.
Join Ukrainian artists Tetyana Virozub and Tetiana Shokha for a relaxing and inspiring sip and paint evening. Learn to paint in the beautiful Petrykivka folk style while enjoying two glasses of Ukrainian wine from different regions.
Kids five to 12 years old will take part in a separate art class, painting traditional flower motifs on eco-friendly shopper bags.

Community Art Swap
Organised by Refugee Action Kingston
Refugee Action Kingston invites everyone to join a creative art exchange for Refugee Week on the theme ‘Community as a Superpower’. Submit artwork for a digital display in any form from poetry to painting, and receive a surprise piece from another participant in July!
