We work with a number of local organisations to provide support to homeless people and rough sleepers. You can help too by supporting them.

SPEAR

SPEAR is a charity working with homeless people in and around Richmond. Since 1987, they have offered services to thousands of homeless and vulnerable people, successfully transforming lives and supporting many of our service users to the point that they have achieved total independence.

SPEAR is not just about homelessness and housing, their aim is to support clients to live independently, reach their aspirations and live a fulfilling life. They support clients to develop new skills, confidence and self-esteem. They offer excellent services to those most marginalised in society and constantly strive to improve those services and the lives of their clients.

The Vineyard

The Vineyard is a local charity based in Richmond. Through fundraising they run the Vineyard Community Centre. At the centre they run morning drop-in sessions to support those in crisis or homeless.

They look after up to 40 visitors each morning, 6000 visits a year. They provide food and drink, washing and showering facilities, clothing, communications services e.g. internet / phone charging and they are an outreach hub for external agencies such as Richmond’s homeless agency SPEAR, the Citizens Advice RichmondRIRS, (Richmond integrated Recovery Services for drug and alcohol), medical and mental health agencies. They also have a charity shop, a community café and a foodbank.

 Foodbanks

Foodbanks provide emergency food to people in crisis. Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to a foodbank. Food banks are located in Barnes, Richmond and Hampton.

 Volunteering

Most charities that help the homeless and people who beg need volunteers. There are over 700 local charities and not-for-profit organisations in Richmond upon Thames that need the support of volunteers. We work with RCVS, in partnership with Richmond Adult Community College, to provide a community hub and encourage people to volunteer.
