Smarter Homes Hub
Improving energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways to make your home more comfortable, greener, and cheaper to run.
Get help to retrofit your home
The Smarter Homes Hub is a new website for residents living in Richmond upon Thames who are interested in making their home more energy efficient.
The Hub has up-to-date information on grants and funding options, planning guidance, and common approaches to retrofitting. It also includes case studies of residents who have upgraded their homes, and a Smarter Homes Handbook with in-depth information.
Why energy efficient homes matter
In Richmond upon Thames, more than 80% of homes are heated with gas boilers. In 2024, domestic buildings were responsible for 45.5% of the borough’s carbon emissions, making housing the single largest source of greenhouse gases locally.
By improving insulation, air tightness and ventilation, and powering your home with clean energy, you can achieve a healthier, smarter and greener home.
