Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week: accessing support in Richmond

Date: 6 February 2023
Author: Hestia IDVA Team, Richmond

Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of sexual abuse and violence. So we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that if you’ve been affected by this or other forms of abuse, support is available for you today.

We are a team of Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) from the charity Hestia, who provide support for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence in Richmond and beyond. This can be both emotional and practical, and will focus first and foremost on keeping you safe and preventing any further risks.

As IDVAs, we can also provide advice and support on issues such as housing, finances, and police processes. Most importantly, we will advocate for you, the survivor – that means that we will ensure your voice and wishes are heard and taken into account.

If you, or anyone you know is at risk please call the Referral Line on 0203 879 3544 or email RichWan.IDVA@hestia.org.

We also attend the Domestic Abuse One Stop Shops in Battersea on Mondays, Wandsworth on Wednesdays, and in Hampton on Fridays. These services run every week from 10am to 12pm and until 12.30 pm in Wandsworth. Here you will find multi-agency, drop-in support including free legal advice, professional advice, and advice on police processes. The addresses for these services are:

  • St Mark’s, Battersea Rise, SW11 1EJ
  • Wandsworth Citizen’s Advice, Picasso Building, Minstead Gardens, Roehampton, SW15 4EE
  • Hampton Hill Citizen’s Advice, 1st Floor, 94-102 High Street, Hampton Hill, TW12 1NY
