Free webinar: Warm winters, cool summers, lower bills
3 September 2026
We know that high energy bills are putting pressure on household budgets, and hot summers are changing how many of us feel about the comfort of our homes. Simple, well-planned improvements can help.
Better insulation, ventilation, and a combination of heat pumps, batteries and solar panels, can make your home cheaper to run, healthier and more comfortable all year round. And, you don't have to do everything at once.
Richmond Council is hosting a free webinar to help residents understand where to start. The session will be on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and led by Russell Smith, founder of independent retrofit experts Ecofurb.
Residents will be able to ask questions and get practical advice. Russell will also explain how to plan improvements in the right order and avoid common and costly mistakes. An expert from Richmond Council's planning group will attend to offer top-line advice on planning rules.
The session will explain how to phase work over time and introduce the whole-house retrofit approach. It will also help residents understand key terms when speaking to installers.
The webinar is suitable for residents who are just starting to think about improving their home, as well as those already planning a project.
The session will be recorded, so anyone unable to attend can watch it afterwards.
