Start your journey to better health with a weight management programme
Community news on behalf of Enable Leisure & Culture | 3 September 2025
Looking to feel healthier, more confident, and more in control of your wellbeing before the end of 2025?
The free 12-week Adult Weight Management (AWM) programme is back, with new groups running from October to December.
The AWM programme, funded by Richmond Council in partnership with Enable, is designed to support local residents in achieving a healthy weight through small, sustainable lifestyle changes.
You’ll join weekly group sessions delivered by qualified instructors and nutritionists, either in-person at locations across Richmond or virtually from the comfort of your home.
This holistic and inclusive programme supports people from all backgrounds, taking into account cultural factors, day-to-day barriers, and real-life challenges, because health isn’t one-size-fits-all.
What’s included
The programme includes:
- Exercise sessions led by qualified physical activity instructors
- Nutrition workshops delivered by expert nutritionists
- Discounted membership at Richmond Leisure Centres for £30 a month, including gym, pool, and classes (normally £52.50)
Real results, real people
The programme has a lasting impact on participants. For example:
- 84% of participants lose or maintain weight by the end of the programme
- Many participants report feeling more energetic, more confident, and more in control of their health
- People often form friendships and find a supportive community that continues even after the programme ends
How to join
If you're not sure, join an online introduction and taster session on Tuesday 9 September from 6.30 to 7.30pm. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for what to expect in the sessions.
