More than £27,000 raised for former Mayor’s chosen charities

29 October 2026

The former Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Councillor Penny Frost has presented two local charities with over £13,500 following a year of fundraising.

A total of £27,355.82 was raised during Councillor Frost’s 2025/26 Mayoral year, with the money being shared equally between Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston upon Thames and Small Steps. Each charity has received £13,677.91 to support their work with local families.

Councillor Frost, who served as Richmond upon Thames’ 60th Mayor, recently presented cheques to the two organisations. Councillor Frost worked in partnership with Deputy Mayor, Councillor Clare Vollum throughout the Mayoral year, with both councillors jointly choosing the charities to support.

Councillor Frost said: “We chose Crossroads Care and Small Steps because of the joy, support and relief they bring to local families. Their work is life-changing and it has been a privilege to champion both charities together.

“Most importantly, we want to thank everyone who donated, attended an event or supported our fundraising over the year. This wonderful total is thanks to your generosity and will help two brilliant local charities continue to be there for families who need them.”

Crossroads Care has been supporting unpaid carers and their families across Richmond upon Thames for more than 35 years. Its tailored services include respite care, companionship, home help and support for children and people with complex needs, helping carers take a vital break from their responsibilities.

Small Steps provides specialist support for children under five with physical disabilities or significant motor delays. The charity offers sessions supporting children’s development and gives parents and caregivers skills they can use to continue that support at home.
