Got a favourite park? Help us make it even better

20 October 2025

Whether you're a nature lover, a playground explorer, a fitness fan, or just someone who enjoys a good picnic, your input helps us improve spaces for everyone.

Since the Parks Satisfaction Survey in 2023, based on your feedback, we have added picnic tables, mobile cafés, new toilets, drinking fountains and more to our local parks. Now we are running the survey again to hear fresh ideas and ensure future resource planning reflects what matters most to you.

Tell us what you think by Sunday 30 November 2025. Complete the online survey.

If you need to request a paper survey, please email parks@richmond.gov.uk or call 020 8891 1411 quoting Young People in Parks and Open Spaces survey.

Parks Satisfaction Survey 2023

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide responses in our previous survey.

The feedback collected has been used to improve the parks and open spaces throughout the borough, helping to make Richmond upon Thames an even nicer place to explore.

Improvements to our parks and open spaces

Based on the feedback received, here are some of the actions we have taken.

1. Enhancing comfort and sociability in public spaces

We’ve introduced picnic tables, mobile cafés, new toilets and drinking fountains, all aimed at making parks more welcoming, convenient and sociable.

2. Expanding play opportunities for all ages

We’ve upgraded play areas by adding basket swings for teens, making roundabouts accessible and resurfacing paths, to provide inclusive, safe and stimulating play environments.

3. Promoting active lifestyles and community engagement

We’ve added new sports facilities and outdoor gyms which encourage fitness and facilitated events like cycling sessions and planting days to foster community spirit and participation.

4. Supporting nature and community-led green projects

We’ve supported biodiversity initiatives and growing spaces by working with partners to develop new community growing beds, installing loggeries and bee hotels and designated more pollination stations. This aims to increase biodiversity, improve habitats and empower residents to connect with nature through hands-on ecological stewardship.

Grow a greener borough together

Our love for nature doesn’t stop at the park. The recently launched Biodiversity Action Plan guides how we protect wildlife and enhance habitats across the brough.

Alongside it, the Richmond Sustainability Forum brought together nature lovers, eco-enthusiasts and curious minds to share ideas and spark green change. Hear about Councillor Julia Neden-Watts’ thoughts on what made it special.
