Celebrating the reading spirit of our young readers
7 October 2025
The Summer Reading Challenge may be over, but the story continues. Find out about our young readers' success over the summer, and what’s coming this autumn.
Our Summer Reading Challenge: Story Garden brought 3,172 children into our libraries, marking an increase of 156 compared to last summer. This reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of our young readers, who embraced the challenge with imagination, curiosity, and determination.
All of our libraries experienced a notable rise in activity, but Twickenham Library took the crown with 624 sign-ups, making it our busiest branch for the challenge. We extend our sincere thanks to the team and congratulations to our vibrant community of readers for their outstanding reading efforts.
This summer wasn’t just about books, it was about bringing stories to life. We hosted three free Lego sessions for families, and they were a massive hit! Children and parents alike got stuck in, building everything from dragons to dream houses, inspired by the tales they were reading.
What’s coming this autumn?
With summer behind us and the school term underway, Richmond Reads is in full swing, encouraging readers of all ages to keep exploring new books and sharing their favourites as the weather cools down.
We also continue to have an exciting line-up of story time sessions, game clubs and more for children and teens.
