Hate Crime Awareness event in partnership with Multicultural Richmond
26 October 2023
On Monday 23 October, as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week, we held an event at the Access Project centre in Whitton.
The event was attended by our Hate Crime Coordinator, VAWG Community Safety Officer and Serious Violence Officer to answer questions from residents and give information of how we are working to make the borough a safer and more inclusive place.
The overall success of the event is an example of the fantastic partnership work which takes place in the borough with local and voluntary support groups such as Age UK also participating in the event to highlight the importance of reporting of hate crime in all its forms.
Councillor Nancy Baldwin, Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities & the Voluntary Sector, was was also in attendance as the event forms part our wider commitment to bridging the gap between tolerance and inclusion to ensure every resident feels a sense of belonging.
Residents were provided essential resources to learn more about the different forms of hate crime and how to report it if you see it happening.
