Free electrical repair training in Richmond
Community news on behalf of Action West London | 12 November 2025
Action West London (AWL) is launching a new 'Electrical Fixing' training workshop on 11 December 2025 aimed at equipping unemployed individuals with valuable, hands-on repair skills.
The initiative will also tackle the growing issue of electronic waste by encouraging the donation and reuse of small electrical items.
The project is designed to be a 'win-win' for the community. Donations of unwanted but fixable small electrical items - such as kettles, toasters and lamps - will be used as training materials for the participants. Once repaired, these items will be given to local charities to benefit those in need.
The free half-day, in-person workshops will be led by expert fixers from organisations like the Fixing Factory. Participants will gain practical skills in troubleshooting, repair and identifying salvageable items. The program will also offer a Level 1 certification in repair and PAT testing, a qualification that can significantly boost employment prospects.
