Nature walks, dancing and cake can make you feel Full of Life

18 November 2025

Sound baths, tango dancing and nature trail walks are just some of the wonderful experiences older residents and their carers got to try throughout October, as part of the Full of Life Fund events.

The events started on 1 October, the National Day of Older People, and ran throughout October. Over 200 residents participated in over 20 local events to celebrate ageing well, connect with others and improve their wellbeing.

Councillor Piers Allen, Chair of the Adult Social Services, Health and Housing Services Committee and Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board, said: “We’re pleased to continue to support our local organisations and centres to host these events for our residents to connect with their community, learn new skills and enhance their health and wellbeing.

“Thank you to all of our local community partners who host and organise these events, it is heart-warming to hear from residents who attend about how positive they felt after joining in these activities.”

The events included nature-themed activities such as a nature trail walk and an allotment open day. There were also wellbeing focused events with a dementia-friendly sound bath and mindful arts and crafts. There were celebrations and fun too, with a tango dance class and autumn party.

There was plenty of variety with other sessions throughout the month with a cooking demonstration, a candle making workshop, a beginner’s bridge programme and a celebration day for carers.

The programme also included the Full of Life Fair on Friday 24 October at Allianz Stadium Residents. Local charities and organisations came together to celebrate older residents and healthy ageing. It provided access to the information, support and social connections older residents and their carers need to age well.

The Full of Life Fund was set up in 2021 and is part of the Full of Life Programme.
