Take part in Giving Tuesday 2023
Community news on behalf of Giving Tuesday | 28 November 2023
The global movement, Giving Tuesday, takes place on Tuesday 28 November and there are a number of ways you can join in.
First created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a day that encourages people to do good. For over ten years, this simple idea has grown into a movement, inspiring millions across the world to share, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
Giving Tuesday can be celebrated in various ways. You can volunteer your time, share your skills, join a campaign, donate goods, food, or clothes, organise a community – the list is endless.
Richmond is fortunate to have a thriving voluntary sector, and there are so many ways that residents can get involved:
- Richmond CVS run a local Volunteer Service which can link you in with local organisations looking for volunteers. Find out about the current opportunities
- Richmond Foodbank support local people struggling to access food. There are several locations in the borough where you can drop-off items to redistribute to those in need
- The Richmond upon Thames Voluntary Fund is an independent charitable trust that has been set up to give the local community the opportunity to donate to local organisations who make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people in the borough. In 2023/24, the Fund has selected three charities who all provide support for young carers. You can also watch Ryan’s story on what it’s like to be a young carer.
