Council hosts first Richmond Sustainability Forum to accelerate borough's journey towards Net Zero

9 November 2023

Richmond Council will host its first borough-wide Sustainability Forum on Wednesday 29 November 2023.

The event provides a space for businesses, community groups, public sector partners and passionate residents who are leading climate initiatives in their communities to discuss collective action to accelerate Richmond upon Thames’s journey to becoming a Net Zero Borough by 2043.

It will be held at the new collaborative workspace Patch in Twickenham (TW1 3BW) from 6.30 to 8pm.

Councillor Julia Neden-Watts, Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sports Committee, said:

“We are thrilled to announce our first Sustainability Forum that will bring together individuals from across sectors and communities in Richmond upon Thames as we continue our work toward making our borough fairer, greener and more adaptable to a changing climate.

“We know that rapid action is needed to address the climate crisis, and the only way we can achieve our collective goals is by collaborating and supporting each other to reduce emissions, overcome the challenges we face as a borough and ensure our communities are prepared for and supported through the impacts of climate change.

“We warmly invite leaders from the business, education, public, faith and community sectors, as well as residents who are impressively championing sustainability in their local areas, to an evening of enriching discussions.”

Attendees to the Richmond Sustainability Forum will have the opportunity to hear from local leaders in sustainability and network with other champions of sustainable change. Going forward, these forums will be held three times a year.
