Age UK Richmond and Active Hampton partner up on six-week pickleball course for older people
Community news on behalf of Age UK Richmond | 14 May 2026
Pickleball is a fun new sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Players use solid wooden paddles to hit a plastic ball over a net. It incorporates many of the skills of racquet sports but doesn't require the same speed and force, making it ideal for over 55s.
Age UK Richmond is running a six-week introductory course inside the fantastic sports hall at Active Hampton (situated in the square by the White House Family Hub, the little Sainsburys and the Hampton Ale House).
The pickleball course starts on Wednesday 3 June 2026 at 10am and the total cost is £36. All bats, balls and equipment are provided.
The course is six weeks but we will take a one-week break after two sessions. The final session will be on 15 July. This activity is for people over the age of 55 living in the borough of Richmond.
