London Welsh Minis finished their season in style by representing Richmond upon Thames in rugby festivals in South Wales and a prestigious international tournament in Frankfurt.
With players drawn from schools throughout the borough, the season reached its climax with a number of age groups touring two wonderful locations during the sunny Spring season.
The U9s and U11s headed for a weekend of sun, rugby and surf in Mumbles and the beautiful Gower coastline. Both age groups attended professional level matches on the weekend, before playing in the Mumbles RFC tournament on the Saturday afternoon. They made the best of the great weather, with Sunday morning spent surfing and holding a barbeque on the Gower beaches.
The U10s and U12s made the longer journey to the international Youth Festival, held in Frankfurt. This is a weekend-long tournament featuring teams from Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, Czechia, Luxembourg and Wales.
With the club's U14s Youth team also at the tournament, there were about 220 children and adults at the festival representing the London Welsh rugby. A wonderful sight!
These tours provide children with wonderful new experiences. They allow team mates to get to know each better in a unique setting, they expose players to different cultures and languages and most of all they are a fun way for children and parents to finish what has been a superb season.
