Join Himalayan Balsam Bash volunteer sessions
Community news on behalf of Thames Landscape Strategy | 12 May 2026
Join Thames Landscape Strategy for friendly, hands on volunteer sessions helping to control Himalayan Balsam, an invasive plant that threatens riverbanks, wildlife habitats and our historic Thames landscape.
- When: every Tuesday 10am to 2pm, starting 26 May 2026
- Where: Ham Street Car Park (What3Words: ///slowly.rising.audit)
Together, volunteers will be working along the riverside to remove Himalayan Balsam before it sets seed. This simple but effective action helps protect native plants, improves habitats for wildlife, and keeps our local rivers healthy and resilient.
No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm! All tools, gloves and guidance will be provided on the day. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
These sessions are relaxed, sociable and open to all. Bring along a friend, family member, or come solo and meet like minded people.
Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, so everyone can relax and chat between tasks.
