Join Clean Air Day and explore the air we breathe

26 May 2026

On Thursday 18 June, join us in celebrating Clean Air Day and learn about air quality across the borough. Don’t miss our free art workshops, where you can contribute to a collective artwork exploring how urban spaces shape the air we breathe, plus a fun lunchtime activity ‘Collecting Air’.

This year’s theme is ‘Let's use our voices to clean up our air this Clean Air Day’, which encourages communities, businesses, schools, and the health sector to speak up about air pollution and its impact on our health. It also encourages people and organisations to adopt cleaner, more sustainable practices, such as choosing to walk, cycle or use public transport for short journeys and to use delivery hubs in preference to home deliveries.

Visit our stall in Richmond town centre

This Clean Air Day (Thursday 18 June), we’re back in Richmond town centre for a lively pop-up event. Drop by to meet our Air Quality team and find out more about air pollution in your area and our work to tackle it. Take part in our game and test your knowledge of sources of indoor air pollution and hear about simple, affordable ways you can help improve it, such as reducing use of aerosols and opening windows.

  • Date: Thursday 18 June 2026
  • Time: 11am to 4pm
  • Location: Richmond town centre on Lower George Street, right next to the flower stall

Free art workshops and activity

Join one of our Creative Cityscapes workshops and be inspired to produce a collective artwork that will evolve over the day. Guided by local artist Paloma, we will use charcoal, graphite, stencils and collage to explore how urban spaces shape the air we breathe.

Additionally, our participatory Collecting Air activity invites you to imagine, feel, and collect something impossible: the wind. Join us to ‘capture’ the wind and record your ideas and perceptions to help build a unique and poetic collection.

  • Date: Thursday 18 June 2026
  • Creative Cityscapes workshops: 10.30am and 2.30pm at Orleans House Gallery, and 5.30pm at Patch Twickenham
  • Collecting Air activity: 1pm at Orleans House Gallery
