Celebrate girl power in sport this International Women’s Day

27 February 2026

In Richmond upon Thames, there are many great ways for women and girls to get involved in sport from grants and bursaries to coaching and volunteering opportunities.

This International Women’s Day, explore pathways and opportunities to help you take your first steps into coaching or volunteering in Richmond.

Coaching and volunteering

Our local partners, Made in Fulham, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, and The Harlequins Foundation, offer coaching courses and volunteering roles to help female athletes develop their skills, gain experience, and grow in confidence.

A number of governing bodies offer grants and bursaries to help women gain coaching qualifications in sports like tennis, football and cricket, supporting greater inclusion and confidence across the sector.
