Youth Council launches podcast to challenge misogyny and improve safety of women and girls

6 March 2024

Kingston and Richmond Youth Council (KRYC) has worked with local young people to produce a short podcast series exploring the challenges of being a young man and tackling misogyny.

The podcast explores ‘toxic masculinity’ and fosters a forum for young people to discuss the issues we face today and how to change the behaviours and cultures within our society that allows toxic attitudes to take root.

The KRYC is coordinated by Achieving for Children, Richmond Council’s children’s services provider, to empower young people to share their views and engage in politics. Whilst Richmond upon Thames is the safest borough in London, we are continuing to deliver a long-term strategic approach to ending violence against women and girls to make our community safer.

By addressing the root causes and behaviours that allows violence against women to occur, the podcast engages young people in conversations, encouraging them to challenge these harmful systems and create change.
