Building stronger connections through Met Engage
Community news on behalf of Met Engage | 17 June 2025
The Metropolitan Police is introducing Met Engage - a refreshed, community-focused approach to policing.
At the heart of policing is partnership, and that means working hand in hand with communities. In Richmond and across London, the Metropolitan Police is committed not only to keeping people safe but also to building trust, improving communication and solving problems together.
About Met Engage
Met Engage is a commitment to deeper engagement with Londoners. It’s about listening more, acting on what matters most to residents, and involving individuals, businesses and community groups in shaping local policing. It represents a step forward in how local policing teams connect with the public - not just in times of crisis, but every day.
Here in Richmond, we’re fortunate to live and work in one of London’s safest boroughs, but concerns still exist - whether that’s antisocial behaviour, burglary or the visibility of officers on the streets. Met Engage enables local policing teams to work more transparently and collaboratively, ensuring that local priorities reflect the voices of the community.
Through Met Engage, local policing teams will:
- Be more visible and accessible: Expect to see more officers at community events, local meetings, and in public spaces - actively listening to concerns
- Hold regular community contact sessions: These are opportunities for open dialogue with Safer Neighbourhood Teams
- Residents are invited to share what they believe policing in Richmond should focus on
- Work closely with local partners: From the Council and schools to youth services and residents’ associations, local policing teams are strengthening partnerships to tackle issues holistically
- Respond to community intelligence: Your information is vital. Met Engage ensures local policing teams respond swiftly and meaningfully to local intelligence and feedback
