Celebrate 125 years of motoring in Twickenham
Community news on behalf of St Margarets Fair | 23 June 2025
On Saturday 5 July, come along to a special event marking 125 years since the New Orleans Voiturette first went on sale.
This event will reunite at least four — and hopefully all five — of the surviving 1900 New Orleans cars, originally built in Twickenham. Other locally built motor vehicles will also be on display, representing Twickenham’s pioneering and innovative motor industry. This industry lasted for over 25 years and had a renaissance in specialised motor vehicles including a number of successful racing cars.
The event will also highlight the remarkable story of Twickenham’s motoring heritage, including its early role in electric transport, which, although eventually eclipsed by advances in petrol engines, was once a promising and forward-thinking reality.
