South Asian culture shines at Orleans House Gallery

At last week’s High Tide Festival, more than 300 residents and visitors joined us at Orleans House Gallery for South Asian dance workshops and an afternoon of ragas performances.

Working with artists from the Amina Khayyam Dance Company, we welcomed more than 90 people to a series of lively, interactive workshops for all generations. Participants put on Ghunghroos (bell anklets), moved to the mesmerising rhythms of the ‘tabla’ and sitar, and stepped into an imaginative performance, through Kathak dance and South Asian classical music.

In the afternoon, more than 200 people enjoyed raga performances led by zerOclassikal. The performance featured a bold, contemporary approach to South Asian classical music, creating space for artistic progression, experimentation and new ideas.
