Help shape the future of sport and physical activity in Richmond
7 July 2026
Residents are invited to share their experiences of being active in the borough, to help shape the future of sport and physical activity in Richmond upon Thames.
Richmond Moves – For a Healthier Borough is making it easier for everyone to move more, every day, in ways that work for them. Over the past two years, we have worked with local communities and organisations to create more inclusive opportunities to be active. Now, residents are encouraged to have their say.
People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to share their experiences, including what is working well, what could be improved, what motivates them, and any barriers that may be stopping them from being more active. Feedback will help inform the next phase of Richmond Moves, the borough’s long-term plan to make physical activity a natural and accessible part of everyday life.
Councillor Elizabeth Gant, Vice Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sports Committee, said: “We are proud that Richmond is one of the most active boroughs in the country, but we know there is always more we can do to make it easier for everyone to take part. Richmond Moves is about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities so that being active feels accessible and enjoyable for all.
"We want to hear directly from our residents about their experiences – what’s working well and where we can do better. Your feedback will help shape the future of sport and physical activity in the borough and ensure it meets the needs of our diverse communities."
In its first two years, Richmond Moves delivered a range of improvements, including fairer pricing at leisure centres, investment in our sports facilities, and targeted support for women and girls.
Building on this progress, year three will focus on creating even more inclusive opportunities. This includes supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), women and girls, older adults, non-English speakers and sanctuary seekers. The programme will also continue to work closely with local clubs, organisations, schools and higher education providers to strengthen volunteering opportunities and develop career pathways into the sport and physical activity sector.
You can also sign up to receive emails to help you move more.
