Richmond Cargo Bike Fair to return bigger and better this September
8 July 2026
Richmond’s popular Cargo Bike Fair will return on Sunday 20 September, promising its biggest and most exciting event yet.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural fair, this year’s event will be one of five flagship hubs for the London Cycling Festival.
The free, family-friendly event will once again bring together residents, businesses and cycling enthusiasts to explore how cargo bikes can transform everyday journeys. The 2026 fair will expand on last year’s programme, offering even more opportunities to experience cargo bikes in action.
Councillor Alexander Ehmann, Deputy Leader of Richmond Council and Chair of the Transport and Air Quality Committee, said: “Following the fantastic success of last year’s inaugural Cargo Bike Fair, we’re delighted to be bringing it back even bigger and better this September. As one of the main hub events for the London Cycling Festival – and the only one in Outer London and focused on cargo bikes – it’s a brilliant opportunity to showcase the real potential of this form of transport.
“We’re seeing a growing appetite for greener ways to get around for local journeys, and cargo bikes are a genuine alternative to the car – especially for families and small businesses. As a borough, we’re working hard to make cycling easier, safer and more accessible so we can make Richmond upon Thames the cargo bike capital of London.”
At the 2025 event, visitors enjoyed test rides of a wide range of cargo bike models supplied by local retailers, alongside children’s cycle confidence sessions to help young riders build their skills. A cargo bike procession through the borough was a highlight, complemented by live music, bike maintenance workshops, and expert road safety advice and services.
This year’s fair is set to build on that strong foundation, with an enhanced programme designed to showcase the role cargo bikes can play in everyday life – from family travel and school runs to deliveries and small business use.
Cargo bikes provide a cleaner, greener alternative to car journeys, particularly for short local trips. With increasing interest from residents and businesses alike, the fair will highlight how switching to cargo bikes can help reduce congestion, improve air quality and support a more sustainable borough.
Further details about the Richmond Cargo Bike Fair, including the full programme and timings, will be released soon.
