Read to the Beat at your local library this summer

This summer, bring your children to libraries across the borough for the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.

This year’s theme, ‘Read to the Beat’, celebrates the link between stories and songs, encouraging children to explore how reading and music can spark imagination and creativity.

How to get involved 

Taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge is simple: 

1. If your child is not already a library member, sign them up so they can get their own library card
2. Sign up at your local library and receive a Read to the Beat pack
3. Read six library books or complete challenges to collect a sticker for their collector pack

The challenge ends on Saturday 5 September 2026. 

Summer Reading Challenge events 

This August, pop into Richmond Lending Library and Teddington Library to enjoy live music from The Patch Players and Teddington Ukulele Players, with songs to sing and dance along to. 

Get creative with Lego and take on fun building challenges at your local library. These free, child-friendly sessions include all materials, with adult supervision required. Sessions take place at Castelnau Library, Whitton Library and Hampton Library.
